Overview

Football turf

A football pitch lasts as long as the yarn, the infill routine and the base under it. We quote the fibre first, then the drainage raft, then the install kit - so the field you sign is the field that is still playable in year eight.

01

Quoted as a system

Yarn, backing, infill, seaming tape and silica are specified together - not sold as a roll and a shrug.

02

Built for monsoon

Playability after rain is a base and falls problem first. We survey that before we talk colour.

03

Figures on the sheet

Pile, stitch, density and backing are published for every construction - not a generic PE label.

04

Lines tufted, not painted

White turf for markings stays readable. No annual repaint cycle on the playing lines.

Fibre

What Dtex actually measures

Dtex is the mass in grams of 10,000 metres of yarn. A higher number means a heavier, thicker blade - more material in each fibre, more recovery after a slide, and a longer life under studs. It is not a quality badge on its own. Recreational five-a-side is happy at 12K. A school that trains six days a week wants 12K–14K as a floor. Full-contact club and tournament play belongs in 16K.

Install kit

Quoted with the pitch, not hunted later.

The same adhesive, tape, sand and netting our crews use on handover.

  • 01

    Envirostik adhesive

    12 kg glue + 1.2 kg hardener · 90:10 mix · about 60 minutes pot life.

  • 02

    Seam tape

    0.3 m × 100 m rolls for factory-edge seams that stay flat under infill.

  • 03

    Silica sand

Engineered grain for non-infill systems, typically around 1.4 kg per sqft.

  • 04

    Sports netting

Garware braided or knotless nets, commonly 10 m × 30 m, quoted with the pitch.

Care

Keeping a pitch playable.

An infill football pitch wants a routine, not a rescue budget. Monthly brushing adds years; skipping it spends them.

  1. 01

    Weekly

Clear leaves and litter. Debris trapped in infill holds water and shortens fibre life.

  2. 02

    Monthly

Drag-brush the full field to lift the pile and put infill back where sliding has moved it.

  3. 03

    Seasonally

Check infill depth at goalmouths and the centre circle - they empty first - then top up.

  4. 04

    Annually

Deep clean, decompaction, and a seam plus line inspection before the heavy season.
